Key questions
It is not necessary to bring a complete medical exam dossier to the initial consultation. To ensure that you get the most out of your initial consultation, experience has shown that it is helpful to have some preliminary exams conducted in advance and to bring them to the meeting.
Most importantly these are:
- spermiogram in men (recent, not older than 3 to 6 months)
- base hormone levels in women (TSH, FSH, LH, E2, prolactin, perhaps additionally testosterone, DHEA-S (blood samples taken on days 2 to 5 of the cycle))
In any case, we advise you to bring all health-related information, if applicable also earlier surgery findings in women and/or men (e.g. testicular surgery).
In most of the cases the treatment begins 2 or 3 days after the beginning of the menstruation.
There is no general rule. The IVF Fund provides 4 attempts (under certain conditions). The probability of the occurrence of a pregnancy is strongly defined by initial conditions of the couple.
According to the woman's cycle a treatment course takes approximately 4 weeks. During this time the woman must be present at least 4 to 5 times. The partner is absolutely required to be on site at the time of egg collection. A pause of 1 to 3 months is recommended between IVF treatment cycles.
